Now that I’ve published a book, a common question I get is, “When will the next one be ready?”
I take the question as a compliment, but it’s also difficult to answer. The first book took me eight years to write. I hope the next one will go considerably faster, but I know better than to make promises.
I can give you a sneak peek at progress though:
These are my notes, categorized in untidy little piles. It’s slowly morphing into an organized outline, and I’ll update you when I can.
In the meantime, I’d love for you to drop by my guestbook. It’s a perfect place to ask about The Flourishing Tree, drop me a friendly note to say hello, or even to ask, “When will the next one be ready?”

Hi Hope! Love your website. I’m reading your book and will let you know when I finish it. I also enjoyed the photo here of your “untidy little piles” of paper! Fellow writers will love it! I certainly have plenty of piles when I’m writing!

Maria — thanks so much for dropping by the site and letting me know you can relate to the little piles. As it turns out, the project in question is really “The next one after the next one,” as I’ve taken a break from it to work on a fiction project. I have tidier piles for that project, although my desk is a mess of first draft changes as I work on the second draft!
Friends — if you would like a delightful short novel to read, my friend Maria has written a book called “He Gave Me Barn Cats,” about gifts from God while dealing with loss of family, bewildering grief, and, yes, even questioning God. Check out her website at https://www.mariasantomassohyde.com. Happy reading!
